What are we talking about?

What are we talking about?

In case you haven’t heard, we aren’t your average landscaping company. While we are happy to install and tend to your traditional landscape beds, we like to encourage a more holistic, permaculture approach when possible. This approach comes with a few terms that might be new to you. Scroll through to learn a bit more about what we do and why!

Our goal with ecological garden design is to build a stunningly aesthetic habitat that benefits our client and the earth.  Through covering bare ground with native, stress tolerant plants, we can help control erosion, reduce our clients’ maintenance needs, and create an overall gratifying garden experience. No need for chemicals, weekly mowing, or constant watering once this type of plant community is established!

The result is not your typical landscape design. We bring in the best of the gregarious bloomers, indulgent textures, and stately keystones. It may be a bit more rowdy-looking than you are used to (see example photo) but this creates a resilient garden that indulges your senses and sustains local beneficial wildlife, like songbirds and pollinators.

Tired of maintaining a monoculture lawn? Sick of fighting with bermuda grass? Weary of the noise from leaf blowers and lawn mowers every week? Consider converting your lawn from turf grass to native grasses!

We will help you through the process of removing turf and amending your soil, and install gorgeous native mixes of seed tailored to your landscape conditions and height preferences. We provide you with detailed care instructions to help your grassland become established, and walk you through the minimal (2-3 times a year!) maintenance tasks.

Green infrastructure provides solutions for managing stormwater, improving water quality, reducing erosion and flooding, and enhancing biodiversity. This can look like implementing rain gardens (see photo example), bioswales, soft landings around tree canopies, and more!

By using plants that love a wet environment, and produce larger, longer root systems than typical turf grass, we can help you create beautifully stunning remedies for typical urbanscape issues.

This is our most typical landscape design service that results in a more traditionally landscaped garden bed. We use plants that will not need as much irrigation, and make sure our selections fit with your landscape’s conditions.

While we try to use more native plants than ornamental plants in this process, our goal is to provide a design that creates interesting, beautiful, low maintenance, and ecologically friendly curb appeal.

Design & install by Belladonna Plant Care

After choosing plants for your design, we take the proper care in installing each plant at the appropriate depth and in the appropriate place, amending soil as we dig, and preparing our client with detailed garden care instructions.

We provide two complementary garden visits after installation, and follow up with any recommended shifts in care. Typically, we recommend signing up for a stint of maintenance care, so that we can help your garden establish quickly!
